The above meeting was held on 27 September 2006 to understand consumers' perception on acrylamide in high-temperature fried and baked food available in local market in order to tailor risk communication messages.

Focus Group Meeting on Communication of Food Safety Messages and Visit to Communication Resource Unit (CRU)

At the above meeting on 31 October 2006, CLG members discussed and commented on the communication of food safety messages. Also, they paid a visit to the CRU to know more about the daily operation of the CFS.

The meeting was held on 29 January to understand consumers' perception of egg incidents and the CFS new control measures on egg importation in Hong Kong implemented since 1 January 2007.

The meeting was held on 2 March to understand consumers' perception of possible health hazards and proper handling of vegetables and fruits as well as to evaluate the practicability of the guidelines given in the CFS educational materials in order to tailor risk communication messages.

The meeting was held on 19 April to understand consumers' perception of local food standards and food safety with a view to setting a clear direction for the development of food standards.

Focus Group Meeting on Trans Fats in Food

The CFS and the Consumer Council published the results of a joint study on trans fats in locally available foods on 15 October 2007. The focus group meeting was held on 18 October to understand the consumers' perception of trans fats in foods with a view to tailoring risk communication messages.

Focus Group Meeting on Effectiveness of Health Message Dissemination through Leaflet on "Preservatives in Food" and Consultation Document on "Proposed Regulatory Framework for Pesticide Residues in Food in Hong Kong"

The meeting was held on 20 December to gauge public opinions on the effectiveness of health message dissemination through the CFS leaflet on "Preservatives in Food" with a view to improving its contents and design and better meeting public's needs. CLG members were also consulted on the Proposed Regulatory Framework at the meeting.
