Follow-up work on fish sample
A freshwater grouper sample recently found to contain malachite green and nitrofurans was, according to the concerned importer, supplied by a registered fish farm supplying fish to Hong Kong in Shunde, Guangdong, a spokesman for the Centre for Food Safety (CFS) said today (November 30).
"The fish sample in question was taken from a supermarket in Hoi Lai Estate, Sham Shui Po. Results of tests on this sample had been released earlier.
"Upon this latest development, the CFS has informed the Guangdong authorities for follow-up actions.
"The CFS has announced earlier most of the test results on recent freshwater fish samples. A small number of drug residue tests still pending are completed today and the results are all satisfactory," the spokesman said.
