Reason For Issuing Alert | The concerned product contained Tetrodotoxin, a potent toxin, with levels ranging from 0.31 mg to 1.7 mg/kg. |
Action Taken by the Centre for Food Safety | Dispose of the remaining stock of the concerned product surrendered by the importer/retailer/packer.
Instruct the importer/retailer/packer to recall the products from customers. Issue a warning letter to the concerned company. Inform the Thai authorities. |
Advice to the Trade | Stop selling the concerned product and conduct a recall. |
Advice to Consumers | Not to consume the concerned grilled grouper or grilled grouper of other flavours of the same brand from the above importer/retailer/packer.
Return the remaining grilled grouper to the importer/retailer/packer. Seek medical advice immediately if symptoms develop after consuming the concerned product. The risk assessment indicated that the consumption of about one pack of the concerned product may reach the minimum dosage of causing poisoning symptoms, such as appearance of numbness sensation over the face and extremities. |
