Reason For Issuing Alert | The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) learned from an announcement of the CFIA that the concerned product contained an allergen, almond, which was not declared in its food label. |
Action Taken by the Centre for Food Safety | The CFS was informed that the distributor concerned had initiated its own product recall from its retailers and set up a hotline at 2422 1728 during office hours to answer consumers' enquiries about recall arrangements. The CFS has alerted the trade and will conduct checks at retail outlets to see if the product is available for sale and will take necessary follow-up actions. |

Advice to Consumers | Those who are allergic to almond may develop symptoms like vomiting, diarrhoea and rash, upon consumption of food containing this substance. In severe cases, a person may develop anaphylactic shock. Consumers who had bought the concerned product and are allergic to almond should stop consuming the product irrespective of batches. Those who feel unwell after consumption should seek medical advice as soon as possible. |
