Reason For Issuing Alert |
- In view of media reports that the Taiwanese authorities concerned have found that expired ingredients might have been used in the production of several kinds of candy products and that some of the products might have been exported to Hong Kong, the Centre for Food Safety (CFS) has immediately contacted the Taiwanese authorities concerned for more information and proactively followed up with local importers and retailers. Preliminary investigation showed that the above-mentioned importer had imported about 4800 tins of the affected product, with all of them distributed or given out to its customers.

Action Taken by the Centre for Food Safety |
- The CFS has immediately instructed the importer concerned to stop sale and remove from shelves the above product and initiate a recall.
- The CFS will alert the trade to the incident, continue to closely monitor the situation and take appropriate action. Investigation is on-going.

- Stop selling the affected product should they possess it.
