  • The other cluster involved two girls aged 6 and 8 respectively.
Location of alleged food premises

Tsuen Wan

Suspected incriminated food item(s)
  • Jelly and corn
Suspected contributing factors
  • Food might be contaminated by raw meat and raw eggs containing
    Salmonella
Advice
  • The management should provide training to food handlers so that they can fully understand the risk of cross contamination in handling raw food and observe good personal hygiene (e.g. proper and frequent hand washing).

  • Store and handle raw food and cooked or ready to eat food separately to avoid cross contamination.
  • Ideally, use two separate refrigerators for storing raw foods and cooked or ready to eat foods.
  • If raw foods and cooked or ready to eat foods must be stored in the same refrigerator, store foods in containers with lids. Cooked or ready to eat foods should be placed on the upper shelf of the refrigerator, and raw foods in the lower part. This prevents juices of raw foods from dripping onto cooked or ready to eat foods.
