The Communication Resource Unit (CRU) of the Risk Communication Section disseminates information on food safety through various channels with a view to enhancing food safety in Hong Kong. The work of the CRU covers different aspects, including:
- providing food safety education for the public and the trade, such as organising talks and producing educational materials;
- conducting Trade Consultation Forums to exchange views with the food trade;
- coordinating public consultation sessions on enactment of legislation or legislative amendments relating to food safety;
- setting up emergency hotlines in response to major food safety incidents, etc.
