Seeking accredited laboratories outside Hong Kong

The Food and Drugs (Composition and Labelling) (Amendment: Requirements for Nutrition Labelling and Nutrition Claim) Regulation 2008 was enacted by the Legislative Council on 28 May 2008 and will come into effect on 1 July 2010.

In order to assist the trade to select an accredited laboratory service provider outside Hong Kong to analyze prepackaged food for nutrition labelling purpose or to conduct analytical testing to verify their own label declarations, some examples of accreditation organizations with link to their websites are given below. By applying appropriate criteria in the search engine, such as food testing, protein, dietary fibre, etc., or explode the directory of accredited laboratories, a list of accredited laboratories will be found in that country. As mentioned in Method Guidance Notes on Nutrition Labelling and Nutrition Claims, accredited laboratory is normally operating under a documented quality assurance programme and is therefore recommended. Other testing laboratory considered appropriate by the trade can also be selected.
