Test results on freshwater fish

A spokesman for the Centre for Food Safety (CFS) said today (February 27) that the results of tests for 14 freshwater fish samples for detection of malachite green, nitrofurans and chloramphenicol, were all satisfactory.

The samples were collected from the Cheung Sha Wan and Western Wholesale Food Markets. The CFS yesterday announced test results for 16 freshwater fish samples taken from the same places.

The CFS has stepped up surveillance on seafood products around the Lunar New Year period in view of the possibility that some traders might import seafood from improper channels to meet the increased demand.
