Plastic fragments suspected in frozen chicken sandwiches
The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) today (July 15) advised people not to eat certain batches of frozen stuffed chicken sandwiches as they might contain plastic fragments.
The affected product is "Lean Pockets Spinach Artichoke Chicken-2 Sandwiches", packaged in nine-ounce boxes, with a "Best Before" date of "Nov 2009" and a package code beginning with "8144 544616" printed on each box.
"We also appeal to the trade to stop selling the particular product," a CFS spokesman said.
The spokesman said that the relevant company in the United States, Nestlé Prepared Foods Company, was recalling the affected products.
"The CFS has contacted the US authorities for more information. We have alerted the trade and are closely monitoring the situation," the spokesman said.
