Latest test results of dairy product samples (with tables)
The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) today (September 25) released the latest batch of results of melamine tests on dairy products.
Results available today showed that all the 105 samples, including ice-cream and ice bar produced locally, as well as milk powder, condensed milk and evaporated milk from the Mainland and overseas, were satisfactory.
"Starting today, the CFS will test each consignment of Mainland fresh milk. The consignment will only be allowed to be sold when it has passed the test on melamine. This measure is adopted as a number of popular brands of fresh milk in Hong Kong are using raw ingredient from the Mainland. It will ensure that those products are not contaminated by melamine," a CFS spokesman said.
"In addition to fresh milk, the CFS has taken samples of infant milk powder on sale in Hong Kong and the test results are satisfactory. The Centre will maintain a close surveillance on this front.
"The CFS adopts a comprehensive strategy in testing various products, including milk powder, milk, dairy products and food with dairy ingredients in a systematic manner based on risk assessment. The results are announced daily."
Information on the test results can be found on CFS's website www.cfs.gov.hk. For related enquiries, members of the public can also call CFS's enquiry number 2381 6096 which operates from 9am to 9pm daily.
