Latest melamine test results (with table)
The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) today (November 17) released the latest batch of results of melamine tests.
The results showed that all 32 samples tested were satisfactory. These included milk, milk beverage, biscuits, chips and eggs.
"Following recommendation by the Expert Group on Melamine Incident, the CFS started the second phase of sample testing in late October. Of the some 1,200 samples tested to date, including infant formula, milk, dairy products, fish, chickens, poultry eggs, meat and vegetables, four were unsatisfactory, including three eggs and one cracker, which have been announced earlier," a CFS spokesman said.
"As from today, the CFS will enter the third phase of testing. Food items to be sampled will include those categories in which samples had been found unsatisfactory in the first and second phases, such as milk, biscuits, cakes, chocolate, candies, frozen confections and eggs. Test results will be announced on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Nonetheless, unsatisfactory results will be announced once available."
Information on the test results can be found on the CFS's website, www.cfs.gov.hk .
