Processing of poultry import applications from all of Germany resumes
The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) today (March 20) announced that the processing of applications for importing poultry and poultry products from Saschen (Saxony) of Germany would resume with immediate effect.
The CFS suspended the processing of applications following confirmation of an outbreak of the highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 on a poultry farm in Saschen (Saxony) last October.
It lifted the restrictions for Germany except Saschen (Saxony) in early March while continuing to monitor the situation in Saschen (Saxony).
"In view of the control measures taken by Germany and the fact that there are no other cases of avian influenza reported in the country, we decided to resume processing applications from the whole of Germany," a CFS spokesman said.
