Centre for Food Safety launches Facebook page
The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department launched its Facebook page (www.facebook.com/CentreforFoodSafety) today (October 1) to disseminate information on food safety and health.
"In the light of Facebook's popularity as a convenient information exchange platform, the CFS decided to set up its own page on the social networking website as an additional channel to disseminate important information on food quickly and directly to Facebook users. By visiting the CFS Facebook page, users will find the latest information on food safety issues," a CFS spokesman said.
The CFS Facebook page contains a wide range of information including food alerts, food safety reports, food safety tips, results of theme studies and publications issued by the CFS.
In addition, members of the public can also review Announcements in the Public Interest produced by the CFS as well as highlights and photos of publicity activities on food safety. The CFS will also upload information on food safety-related seminars and workshops to keep users posted.
The spokesman said the CFS seeks to ensure that food sold in Hong Kong is safe for consumption through collaboration with the food trade and consumers. The CFS Facebook page will facilitate better communication and interaction with the public.
