A CFS spokesman said, "The CFS, through its Food Incident Surveillance System, has noted a notice issued by the Food Standards Australia New Zealand about a recall of the above-mentioned products due to a potential choking hazard."
The spokesman said that upon learning of the incident, the CFS immediately followed up with the local importer concerned, Ceres Resources Limited. According to the information provided by the importer, 173 cases (five packs in a case) of the affected products were imported to Hong Kong and distributed to two retailers for sale. For the sake of prudence, the retailers have already stopped sale and removed from shelves the affected products. The importer has also voluntarily initiated a recall. For enquiries about the recall, members of the public may call Ceres Resources Limited hotline at 3105 2677 during office hours.
The CFS will alert the trade to the incident and urge them to stop using or selling the affected products immediately should they still possess them.
The CFS will continue to follow up and take appropriate action. Investigation is ongoing.
