FEHD completes inspections to lunch box factories
The Centre for Food Safety and the Environmental Hygiene Branch of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) conducted inspections since February 13 according to its earlier plan to some 200 licensed food factories endorsed to supply school lunch boxes. The operation was completed last Saturday. A spokesman for the FEHD today (February 27) said that all the premises inspected during the operation were found in satisfactory hygienic condition, and relevant persons also implemented food safety and personal hygiene measures. Operators of individual premises also followed the suggestions on keeping places clean and tidy given by the FEHD staff during inspections.
The spokesman pointed out that all licensed food factories are regulated by the law. In addition to the above-mentioned special operation in line with the full resumption of classes, the FEHD will safeguard food safety and environmental hygiene through routine inspections, sampling and testing, education and guidance. The department will seriously handle any violation of the relevant requirements.
