CFS urges public not to consume a batch of Vietnamese coconut water drink without best before date
The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department today (July 21) urged the public not to consume a batch of coconut water drink imported from Vietnam. The concerned products did not indicate the best before date according to the requirements stipulated in Food and Drugs (Composition and Labelling) Regulations (Cap. 132W). The trade should also stop using or selling the affected product immediately should they possess it.
Details of the product are as follows:
Product name: 100% COCONUT WATER
Brand: FIZ
Place of origin: Vietnam
Volume: 330ml
Importer: Fortune Mart (Hong Kong) Limited
Best before date: no indication
"The CFS received a notification from the importer that the above-mentioned product did not indicate the best before date. For the sake of prudence, the importer has voluntarily stopped sales and removed from shelves the affected product and initiated a recall. Members of the public can identify the affected product from the package without the best before date and batch number. Members of the public may call the importer's hotline at 2488 6808 during office hours for enquiries about the recall," a spokesman for the CFS said.
The CFS will alert the trade, continue to follow up on the incident and take appropriate action. Should there be sufficient evidence, prosecution will be instituted. The investigation is ongoing.
