CFS urges public not to consume batch of prepackaged chocolate product suspected to contain metal fragments
The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department today (April 8) urged the public not to consume a batch of prepackaged chocolate product from Belgium, as the product might contain metal fragments. The trade should stop using or selling the affected batch of the product immediately if they possess it.

A spokesman for the CFS said, "The CFS, through its Food Incident Surveillance System, has seen notices issued by the Food Standards Agency of the United Kingdom and the Food Safety Authority of Ireland indicating that the above-mentioned product may contain metal fragments and is being recalled. After a preliminary investigation, the CFS confirmed that the above-mentioned importer had imported into Hong Kong the affected batch of the product."
The importer concerned has stopped sales and removed from shelves the affected product and has initiated a recall according to the CFS's instructions. Members of the public may call the importer's hotline at 2299 3966 during office hours for enquiries about the recall.
The CFS has alerted the trade to the incident and will continue to follow up and take appropriate action. An investigation is ongoing.
