The new broadcast van of the Centre for Food Safety (CFS) is now in service, displaying cartoons about food safety and hygiene. A large television screen is installed for the public to view videos produced by the CFS, so as to deepen their understanding of 5 Keys to Food Safety as well as other food safety and nutrition issues.
The van adopts a lively design to promote the Five Keys to Food Safety in an easy-to-understand manner. These include:
- Choose - choose safe raw materials from reliable sources;
- Clean - keep hands and utensils clean;
- Separate - handle raw and cooked food separately;
- Cook - cook thoroughly to ensure that the core temperature of food is at least 75°C;
- Safe temperature - Keep cold food at 4°C or below, and hot food at 60°C or above if not consumed immediately.
The public may drop by and watch the entertaining food safety videos if they see the broadcast van nearby. The broadcast van shows some QR codes linking to the CFS websites that the public can scan with their smartphones to keep updated with the latest activities/information and food alerts/allergy alerts issued by the CFS.
