Food additive means any substance, either natural or synthetic, intentionally added to food for a technological purpose in the processing, packaging, transport or storage of such food. With the advent of food processing, food additives play an important role in providing a safe food supply as well as meeting the consumers' need. The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) is going to organise an International Symposium on Safety and Uses of Food Additives on 16 March 2014 at Regal Airport Hotel Hong Kong. The Symposium aims at providing a forum to examine the current development in the safety evaluation, uses and regulation of food additives.
