Remarks:
  1. The Centre for Food Safety has instructed the vendor to stop selling the affected product.
  2. According to section 54 of the Public Health and Municipal Services Ordinance (Cap. 132), all food available for sale in Hong Kong, locally produced or imported, should be fit for human consumption. An offender is subject to a maximum fine of $50,000 and imprisonment for six months upon conviction.
  3. The Centre for Food Safety will continue to follow up on the unsatisfactory result, including tracing the source of the affected product. Prosecution will be instituted should there be sufficient evidence.
  4. The Centre for Food Safety will enhance education to the trade on proper food hygiene practices.
  5. Investigation is ongoing.
