Reason For Issuing Alert | The concerned products might have been contaminated with di(2- ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP). DEHP is a plasticizer and has been found to cause damages to liver, kidney, reproduction and development when given to animals in large doses. |
Action Taken by the Centre for Food Safety | The CFS has immediately approached the importer and requested to initiate recall. The CFS has also advised the major retailers to take the products suspected to be affected off shelves. The CFS will continue to liaise with the Taiwanese authority on the incident, closely monitor the situation and take appropriate follow-up actions. |
