Reason For Issuing Alert | Test result indicated that sample of the product contained di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP) at a level of 2.9 ppm. DEHP is a plasticiser and has been found to cause damages to liver, kidney, reproduction and development when given to animals in large doses. |
Action Taken by the Centre for Food Safety | The CFS has ordered the trade be prohibited, from noon June 22, import and supply of the concerned drink product, and complete the recall within 30 days. |
