Reason For Issuing Alert | Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP) was found in a sachet of soup powder inside the noodle pack at the level of 2 ppm. DEHP is a plasticiser and has been found to cause damages to liver, kidney, reproduction and development when given to animals in large doses. |
Action Taken by the Centre for Food Safety | The CFS has notified the trade and instructed the concerned importer/retailer to immediately stop the sale of the product and initiate recall of the relevant batch of the product. |
