The importer indicated that they were recalling the instant noodles.

Reason For Issuing Alert

Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP) was found in a sachet of soup powder inside the noodle pack at the level of 2 ppm. DEHP is a plasticiser and has been found to cause damages to liver, kidney, reproduction and development when given to animals in large doses.

Action Taken by the Centre for Food Safety

The CFS has notified the trade and instructed the concerned importer/retailer to immediately stop the sale of the product and initiate recall of the relevant batch of the product.

The CFS will continue its investigations and follow-up work, and closely monitor the recall arrangements. It will also conduct checks at retail outlets to see if the product is available for sale.
