The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department has launched the Hong Kong's Action on Salt and Sugar Reduction to promote healthy eating with less salt and sugar to the general public and the food trade. The CFS supports the World Salt Awareness Week between 16 and 22 March 2015 with the theme ‘Salt and Children'.
World Action on Salt and Health (WASH) runs World Salt Awareness Week every year to highlight the importance of reducing salt intake in all population throughout the world. This year, the focus is to ensure everyone understands the importance of a healthy start for children. Food industry is encouraged to act more responsibly by reducing the amount of salt they add to children's food and to stop advertising high salt food to children.
