Reason For Issuing Alert | The Centre for Food Safety (CFS), through its routine Food Incident Surveillance System, learned that the Japanese authorities had issued a notice that a manufacturer, Maruha Nichiro Corporation is recalling several kinds of canned fish products as they may contain foreign matters. Upon learning of the incident, the CFS immediately liaised with local major retailers and importers and preliminary investigation found that City Super Limited had imported one of the affected products. According to the information provided by the importer, the import quantity of the affected batches of the product was 1980 cans which were for sale at its supermarket chain. The affected products have all been sold out and the importer has initiated a recall. *Updated information on 28 November 2016 |
Action Taken by the Centre for Food Safety | The CFS has contacted with the Japanese authorities and will alert the trade to the incident. |
